Although many of our customer have already booked their 2019 boating holiday we know that some people are worried about how and when Brexit might affect their travel. At Nicols we’re doing everything we can to make sure you can enjoy life on the waterways with minimum impact from Brexit.
The earliest date that the UK might leave the EU is now 31st October 2019 which is after the boating season ends. With this in mind, we don’t see any issues with things such as your travel to and from the UK, extra visas being needed to enter the EU, or your licence and insurance requirements changing for driving abroad.
Whatever the result in October – deal or no deal – flights, ferry and train transport between the UK and Europe will still operate. Nobody yet knows what changes, if any, there might be for UK customers which is why we’ve introduced our Nicols Brexit Guarantee to give you peace of mind when booking your boating holiday for 2020.
If for any reason your transport arrangements for getting to any of our Nicols bases* is cancelled due to Brexit with no alternative offered, then Nicols will let you postpone your holiday to a different date or refund you the cost of your holiday without incurring the usual administration charges for changing or cancelling a booking.
All that we’d require is proof from your travel provider that they have cancelled your travel and that there is no other alternative method (train, flight, ferry) of getting to the Nicols base for collecting your canal boat.
* our Brexit Guarantee applies to all Nicols bases apart from Lübz in Germany.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a boating holiday but are worried about the impact of Brexit then don’t be. With our Nicols Brexit Guarantee you can book risk-free. What’s more, as one of the leading providers of boating holidays with over 300 boats and 25 bases across France, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal you can book with confidence knowing that your holiday is in safe hands.
