We hired the Nicols Duo for our foray on the grande Lago de Alqueva.

The chances are you haven't heard of the Grande Lago (Great Lake) de Alqueva in Portugal's Alenttejo region and there's a very good reason for this. It's only been in existence since 2002 when it was built as a reservoir to supply water to the surrounding villages through a system of pipes and canals, and it wasn't until 2010 that it reached its optimum water level.

Nicols Duo : Our hireboat was suitable for two people and a maximum of four. All the houseboats available for rent from Amieira marina are equipped with a galley and dining area, both an inside and outside helm, a cabin and a toilet/shower compartment, basic GPS equipment and radar.
