Renting your canal barge from the Nicols Glénac base, in the very heart of Morbihan in Brittany, gives you an excellent starting point at the crossroads of several rivers: the Vilaine, the Erdre and the canal from Nantes to Brest.

A magical, mysterious region rich in colours and traditions, Brittany welcomes you with open arms to explore its historical treasures and remarkable natural sites.

Boating holiday on the Canal from Nantes to Brest

While navigating along the canal from Nantes to Brest we recommend mooring at Josselin to visit its magnificent castle reflected in the water and Malestroit with its beautiful half-timbered houses dating from the 15th century. The arts and crafts village of La Gacilly is located along the Aff (very close to our Glénac base): it's a real little Breton village with flowery lanes and home to many arts and craft specialists such as glass blowers and wood-turners. Don't miss the wildness of the Ile aux Pies (rocky cliffs) on route for Redon. Cruise down the long and winding Vilaine River with over almost 40 km without a lock and leading to the port of Roche Bernard and the Arzal dam.

Boating holiday on the Vilaine

Head north up the Vilaine River towards Rennes, a university town and capital of Brittany before heading on to Dinan with its 13th century ramparts, whilst the Erdre will take you to Nantes, on a route dotted with castles.

Get on board for a boating holiday through the heart of Brittany!
